Born during the December quarter 1888 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/586 the son of Andrew & Sarah Ellen Knowles (nee Wood). 1891 Census - 9 Southgate, Oldham, Lancashire. Son - aged: 2 - born: Oldham, Lancashire. Head of household - Andrew Knowles - Married - aged: 31 - occ: Spinning Cotton Overlooker - born: Bolton, Lancashire. Also - Sarah E. Knowes - Wife - aged: 28 born: Ashton upon Mersey. 1901 Census - 26 Princes Drive, Sale. Son - aged: 12 - born: Oldham, Lancashire. Head of household - Sarah E. Knowles - Married - aged: 38 - born: Sale. Plus 1 younger sister. His parents died in 1907 and 1909 respectively. 1911 Census - No Trace. Married Violet Elsie Maud Sharples during the March quarter 1916 in the Fylde R.D. - ref: 8e/1157. Commemorated on the family grave in Altrincham (Brooklands) Cemetery (T4499). His father died on the 10th September 1907 and is buried at St. Petersburg, Russia. His mother died on the 9th October 1909. CWGC - Husband of Violet E.M.
