Born on the 9th April 1885, the birth being registered during the June
quarter 1885 in the Edmonton R.D. - ref: 3a/250, the son of Francis &
Charlotte Ann E. Bishop (nee Smith).

1891 Census - Barrington Road, Altrincham.   Son - aged: 5 - Scholar -
born: Hornsey, Middlesex.   Head of household - Francis Bishop - Married -
aged: 39 - occ: Commercial Traveller in the Paper Trade - born: Hornsey,
Middlesex.   Also - Charlotte A.E. Bishop - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Camden
Town, Middlesex.  Plus 6 siblings.   The births indicate that the family
moved from Hornsey to Altrincham c1890.

Moved to Sale after 1894.

1901 Census - 19 Montague Road, Sale.   Son - aged: 15 - born: Finsbury
Park, Middlesex.   Head of household - Francis Bishop - Married - aged: 49

Charlotte A.E. Bishop - Wife - aged: 43 - born: Camden Town, Middlesex.

1911 Census - No Trace.

Attended Manchester Grammar School

Married Gladys Clarke on the 30th October 1915 at the Register Office,
Amesbury, Wiltshire.   The marriage being registered during the December
quarter 1915 in the Amesbury R.D. - ref: 5a/475.

WO363 - Attested into the Manchester Rgt at Heaton Park, Manchester on the
8th February 1915   Residing at Middlesex.  He was 28 Years, 9 months of
age and employed as an Accountant.    Appointed as unpaid Lance Corporal on
the 2nd November 1915.  Embarked at Folkestone on the 8th November 1915.  
Wounded on the 3rd February 1916     Reported sick to  98 F.A. (Field
Ambulance) on the 13th March 1916 - returned to duty on the 14th.   Ditto
to 97  F.A. on the 3rd April 1916 suffering from German Measals.  Sent down
to No. 16 General Hospital at Le Treport on the 5th.  Transferred to the
Isolation Hospital at Etaples.    Rejoined his battalion on the 21st May
1916.   Missing - death assumed as KiA at Trones Wood on or after the 9th
July 1916.   

Pension Records - Dependant - Widow - Mrs. Gladys Bishop, 72 Sandy Lane,
Chorlton cum Hardy, Manchester.   Awarded a weekly pension of 10 /- w.e.f.
the 11th March 1917.
