Born on the 6th May 1878, the birth being registered during the June quarter 1878 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/826, the son of William & Ann Anderson (nee Potts). Baptised at St. Savior P.C. Manchester on the 26th May 1878. 1881 Census - 30 Maskell Street, Chorlton on Medlock, Manchester. Son - aged:2 - born: Manchester. Head of household - William Anderson - Married - aged - 46 - occ: Joiner & Builder, employing 3 men - born: Rusholme, Manchester. Also Anne Anderson - Wife - aged: 46 - born: Rusholme. Plus 3 elder siblings. 1891 Census - 433 City Road, Stretford. Son - aged: 12 - born: Manchester. Head of household - William Anderson - Married - aged - 56 - occ: Provision Dealer - born: Manchester. Also Anne Anderson - Wife - aged: 56 - born: Manchester. Plus 4 elder siblings and his maternal grandmother. WO97 - Attested at Manchester into the Royal Army Medical Corps - on the 8th January 1900 in answer to the call for troops to go to South Africa.
