Born during the December quarter 1890 in the Prescot R.D. - ref: 8b/586,
the son of John William & Elizabeth Ann Dixon (nee Lord).

1891 Census - 42 Vale Road, Much Woolton, Prescot, Lancashire.   Son -
aged: 6 months - born: Woolton, Lancashire.    Head of household - John
Dixon - Married - aged: 27  - occ: Signal Man - born: Scarborough.  Also -
Elizabeth Dixon - Wife - aged: 29 - born: Lymm, Cheshire.   Plus 3 elder
siblings.   Much Woolton is close to Halewood, Merseyside.

1901 Census - Railway Cottages, Much Woolton, Prescot, Lancashire.   Son -
aged: 10 - born: Woolton, Lancashire.   Head of household - John W. Dixon -
Married - aged: 39  - occ: Railway Signalman - born: Scarborough.  Also -
Elizabeth Dixon - Wife - aged: 39 - born: Lymm, Cheshire.   Plus 3 elder
siblings and his younger brother - Herbert Dixon, who also served in the
Royal Navy and was killed in July 1917.

His father who was born at Scarborough during the December quarter 1864,
died between 1901 and 1903 (unable to find a reference).   His mother
married Frederick Hembrough in 1905.   Post War his mother and her husband
resided in the Railway Cottages at Partington.

1911 Census - HMS Queen.    Sailor - aged: 20 - Stoker 1st Class - born:
Liverpool.     His mother, stepfather and younger brother - Herbert, were
then residing at Station Road, Partington.   Head of household - Frederick
Hembrough - Married - aged: 62 - occ Railway Signalman - born: Hull,
Yorkshire.   Also Elizabeth Hembrough - Wife (Herbert's mother) - aged: 60
- born: Lymm, Cheshire.    Plus Herbert Dixon - Stepson (his brother) -
aged: 17 - occ: Cutting Machine Paper Manufacturer - born: Hunts Cross,
Lancashire.

The 15/06/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian reported that a memorial
service had been held at St. Mary's, Partington for James Pollard and
Robert Henry Dixon.

Torpedo Boat - HMTB 045 was bult in 1886.  It had an armament of 2 x 3 pdr
guns and 4 x 14 inch TTs.   It was 125 foot long and had a displacement of
60 tons.  It was scrapped in 1919.
