In 1891 Herman's parents resided at 20 Temple Road, Sale. His father - Carls C. Schaefer was - aged: 28 - occ: Bank Manager - born Hulme, Manchester. His mother - Fanny S. Schaefer was aged: 26 - born: Stretford. Also listed was his brother - Carl C Shaefer Jnr - aged: 10 months - born: Sale. Plus 1 domestic servant. By 1893 his parents had moved to Chorlton. Born during the June quarter 1893 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/946, the son of Carl Christian & Fanny Sophia Schaefer (nee Taylor). His mother undoubtedly died in childbirth with Herman, as she died the same quarter 1893 - aged: 28. Herman's birth was registered as "Male" (no forename) Shaefer.
