Born during the December quarter 1894 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/186, the son of James & Sarah Chorlton (nee Holgate). 1901 Census - 10 Wright Street, Altrincham. Son - aged: 6 - born: Dunam Massey. Head of household - James Chorlton - Married - aged: 45 - occ: Gardener (Domestic) - born: Millington, Cheshire. Also - Sarah Chorlton - Wife - aged: 38 - born: Clitheroe, Lancashire. Plus 7 siblings. 1911 Census - Grainings Brook, Darwen, Lancashire. Nephew - aged: 16 - occ: Garener Nurseryman - born: Broadheath, Altrincham. Residing with Stephen & Sarah Jane Holgate. His parents were then residing at 8 Churchill Road, Altrincham His father was now employed as a Greenkeeper and Gardener at a Hotel. Ardwick Territorial Bn.
