Born during the June quarter 1885 in then Stockport R.D. - ref: 8a/107, the
son of James Lockhart & Anne Twyford Brydon (nee Carr).

1891 Census - Ladybrook Road (second house from Bramhall Park).   Son -
aged: 6 - born: Bramhall.   Head of household - James L. Brydon - Married -
aged: 45 - occ: Cotton Yarn Merchant - born: Manchester.   Also Ann T.
Brydon - Wife - aged: 42 - born: Manchester.   Plus 1 elder brother, 3
domestic servants and 1 nurse.

His father - James Brydon died in 1898, aged: 52.

1901 Census -  Rossall School, Fleetwood.   Scholar - aged: 16 - born:
Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire.   His mother was still residing at Bramhall Park -
Widow - aged: 52 - Living on own Means - born: Manchester.  Plus his 2
elder sisters and 3 domestic servants.

1911 Census - Bramhall Park, Cheadle Hulme.  Son - aged: 26 - occ:
Electrical Engineer (Dynamo & Motor Works) - born: Hazel Grove.  Head of
household - Ann Twyford Brydon - Widow - aged: 62 - born: Manchester. Plus
3 siblings 1 Companion (to his mother) 2 domestic servants 

WO374 - At the time of his enlistment on the 8th September 1914 at
Manchester Grammar School, he was aged: 30 years, 5 months.   He was 5
feet, 5½ inches in height, weighed 132 lb and had a chest measurement of
32/34 inches (fully expanded).  His complexion was Light, his right eye was
Blue, his left eye, Brown, he had brown hair.    Served as a Sergeant for 2
years in the Rossall School's Contingent Officers Training Corps, from
which he was discharged in 1901.  Appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the 6th Bn,
Cheshire Rgt on the 18th September 1914 - Gazetted 13/10/1914.  Promoted to
Commission on the 17th October 1914.  Promoted Lieutenant and transferred
to the 4th Bn, Royal Rgt on the 27th July 1915, Gazetted on 26/07/1915. 
Employed by Messrs. Rhodes, Brydon & Youatt, Ltd., Engineers, Waterloo
Road, Stockport.  He made his will dated 26th March 1914.  The value of his
estate was £1,570. 8. 7d.

MIC - states that he was posted to Gallipoli on the 26th July 1915. 
Awarded the 1915 Star, the BWM & VM.   Formerly 06th Bn [2], Cheshire Rgt. 
His brother - J.H. Brydon was shown as residing at 56a Mosley Street,
Manchester.

Commemorated on the Family Grave in Sale (Brooklands) Cemetery (per M&LFHS)
-  "In loving memory of James Lockhart BRYDON died 20th Nov. 1898, aged 52
years. Also Anne Twyford, wife of James Lockhart BRYDON who died Feb. 10th
1935 (year confirmed by cemetery records), aged 86 years. Also Katherine
Mary BRYDON , elder daughter of James Lockhart and Anne BRYDON who died at
Llandudno Sep. 12th 1932 aged 41 and of their second son James Herbert
BRYDON, OBE, JP, who died Jan. 12th 1960 aged 78 years. Also of Alec
Whitworth BRYDON, youngest son of James Lockhart and Anne Twyford BRYDON
and grandson of James and Mary CARR, Lieutenant, Queen's Royal West
Regiment, killed in action in the Gallipoli Peninsula , Aug. 31st 1915 aged
31 years"
