Born during the December quarter 1896 in the Burnley R.D. - ref: 8e/289, the eldest son of John & Emma Featherstone (nee Thomas). His father was married to Elizabeth Jane Featherstone (nee Johnson) and they had 3 sons. In 189, the youngest - Percy Featherstone was aged: 8 and born at Ulverstone where John was then stationed. Elizabeth died in 1893, aged: 33. John then married Emma Thomas (Harry's mother) in 1896. 1901 Census - 6 Boardman Street, Droyslden, Asthon under Lyne. Son - aged: 4 - born: Nelson, Lancashire. Head of household - John Featherstone - Married - aged: 42 - occ: Police Sergeant - born: Durham. Also - Emily (Emma ???) Featherstone - Wife - aged: 25 - born: Birmingham. Plus 1 half brother aged: 18, (the Percy above) and the other full brother, aged: 3. 1911 Census - 416 Edge Lane, Droylsden, Lancashire. Son - aged: 14 - occ: Assisting in business (his mother's Confectionery shop) - Head of household - Emma Featherstone - Widow - aged: 34 - occ: Confectioner Shopkeeper - born: Birmingham. Plus 3 younger siblings. Commemorated on the private family gravestone in St. Martin's Churchyard. M.I. "Asleep in Jesus". His father John died 30/10/1908 aged 50 years. His brother Albert died 25/02/1915 aged 17 years. |
