aged: 15 - occ: Office Boy - born: Huddersfield, Yorkshire.  His mother -
Martha Ann Horsfall - Widow - aged: 50 - born: Huddersfield, Yorkshire.  
Plus 1 elder sister - Clara Horsfall - aged: 21.  Head of household Louisa
Swinden - his maternal aunt.

WO363 - Enlisted at Manchester on the 8th September 1914.   Born:
Huddersfield, aged: 19 years, 1 month, employed as a Bank Clerk, residing
at Kirby Cottage, Harboro Road, Ashton upon Mersey.   He was 5 feet 5.25
inches in height, weighed 118.5 lb with chest measurements of 32 to 34.5
inches.   Complexion: Fresh - Eyes: Blue Grey - Hair  Black - Religion :
Church of England.

Posted into the 9th Battalion, East Lancs Rgt on the 15th September 1914.  
Appointed Unpaid Lance Corporal on the 7th June 1915 - Paid w.e.f. the 2nd
August 1915.   Posted to France on the 4th September 1915.   Promoted to
Corporal on the 19th May 1916.

Posted to Salonica on the 29th October 1915.  Admitted into the 28th
General Hospital at Salonica on the 30th June 1916.   On the 18th September
1916, he was invalided back to the UK on the Hospital Ship - H.S.
"Grantually Castle", arriving at Malta on the 27th August 1916.     Posted
to the B.E.F. - I.B.D. on the 13th January 1917.  Promoted to Sergeant on
the 27th May 1917.  Wounded in Action (Bullet Wound to knee) on the 1st
June 1917 and admitted into the 49th Field Ambulance on the 2nd.   Admitted
into the 18th General Hospital on the 6th June 1917.  Returned to England
on the 16th June aboard the Belgian H.S. "Rector de Coninck".  Posted to
the Hospital, Aldershot and posted into the 3rd Battalion, East Lancs Rgt
on the 2nd November 1917.   Discharged as unfit for War Service w.e.f. the
8th May 1918.    Mother - Martha Ann Horsfall, Kirby Cottage, Harboro Road,
Ashton upon Mersey.

Pension Records - No Dependant listed  - address given as Kirby Cottage,
Harboro Road, Ashton upon Mersey.  Record states that he served in the 3rd
Battalion, East Lancashire Rgt, not the 9th.   Also states that he "Died". 
No pension awarded.
