Quintin & Sarah Blain.

Wife - aged: 42 - born: Scotland.   Plus 5 siblings and 1 domestic
servant.

1881 Census - 23 Cranworth Street, Chorlton upon Medlock, Manchester.   Son

Married Mary Susan Riddihough during the September quarter 1893 in the
Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/965.   Mary Susan died in 1900, aged: 31.

His mother - Sarah Blain died in 1907, aged: 78.

1911 Census - No Trace - Canada?

His Canadian attestation form, signed on the 22nd September 1914, at
Valcartier, Quebec, states that he was aged 40 years, 3 months, 5 feet 9½
inches in height, had a 36/3 inch chest (fully expanded).   His complexion
was: fair, his eyes: blue and his hair: grey and he had a scar above his
left eye.    The papers also state that he was a widower and was a Clerk by
trade and had previously served for 5 years in the 9th Bn Manchester Rgt.  
Religion - Presbyterian.    James Blain, Manchester, is listed as his next
of kin - brother perhaps ?   There was a military camp at Valcartier.  He
left Canada with the first contingent in October 1914.

The CWGC web-site states that he was 52 years of aged at the time of his
death.   His attestation records state that he was 41 years of age, so
perhaps he knocked 10 years off his age to enable him to enlist???
