Born during the March quarter 1883 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/185, the youngest son of Henry & Jane Carter (nee Eachus). 1891 Census - Ashton Lane, Ashton upon Mersey. Son - aged: 8 - Scholar - born: Ashton upon Mersey. Head of household - Henry Carter - Married - aged: 53 - occ: Coachman - born: Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. Also - Jane Carter - Wife - aged: 43 - born: Bartholomy, Cheshire. Plus 5 siblings. The family moved from Sale to Ashton upon Mersey c1976. Member of All Saints Sunday School, Ashton on Mersey. 1901 Census - Ashton Lane, Ashton upon Mersey. Son - aged: 17 - occ: Domestic Gardener - born: Ashton upon Mersey. Head of household - Henry Carter - Married - aged: 64 - occ: Coachman Domestic - born: Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. Also - Jane Carter - Wife - aged: 53 - born: Crewe, Cheshire. Death reported in the 26/10/1917 edition of the AAltirncham Guardian. MIC - BWM & Victory only - no other info. SDGW states that he died on the 12/10/18 and that his number was 27259. Quite probable that he is the E. Carter on the Northenden Cenotaph, as post War, his widow is recorded as residing on Spath Road, Northenden. |
