Born at Edinburgh in 1889,  the son of William & Mary S. Veitch (nee
Francis).

1891 Census - 19 Jordan Lane, St. Cuthbert's, Edinburgh.   Son - aged: 2 -
born: Midlothian, Scotland.    Head of household - William Veitch - Married
- aged: 36 - occ: Oriental Merchant & Upholsterer - born: Midlothian.  
Also - Mary S. Veitch - Wife - aged: 40 - born: Midlothian.  Plus 8
siblings including John Alexander Veitch who was also killed during WW1.

1901 Census - 12 Holmefield, Hope Road, Sale.   Son - aged: 12 - Scholar -
born: Scotland.   Head of household - William Veitch - Married - aged: 46 -
occ: Furnishing Salesman - born: Scotland.   His wife - Mary was not at
this address on census night.  Also 7 siblings (all born in Scotland and
included his brother John Alexander Veitch who was also killed during WW1)
together with 1 domestic servant.  

1911 Census - 31 Springfield Road, Sale.    Boarder (with the Bradshaw
family) - Single - aged: 20 - occ: Solicitor's Clerk - born: Edinburgh. 
His brother - John Alexander Veitch was also boarding at this address.

His parents - William & Mary S.F. Veitch were residing at 12 Holmefield,
Sale.    William - Married - aged: 56 - occ: Commercial Traveller - born:
Edinburgh.    Also - Mary S.F. Veitch - Wife - aged: 60 - born: Edinburgh. 
  Plus 1 sister, aged: 15, also born in Edinburgh.

Won the Regimental Shooting Cup in 1913.

Narrowly escaped being sniped by Turkish sniper, but regained British lines
safely

Member of Sale RUFC.

Died of Wounds at Sea.

Death reported in the 13/08/1915 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.   The
local newspaper states that he lived at Oldfield Rd, Sale.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1916.
