Born during either the June quarter or the September quarter 1892 in the Altrincham R.D. - refs: 8a/186 or 8a/200, the son of Arthur Edwin & Elizabeth Jones (nee Wadsworth). 1901 Census - 16 Whitby Road, Rusholme, Manchester. Son - aged: 8 - born: Brooklands, Sale. Head of household - Arthur E. Jones - Married - aged: 30 - occ: Brewer's Traveller - born: U.S.A. (British Citizen). Also - Elizabeth Jones - Wife - aged: 26 - born: Manchester. Plus 1 younger brother and 1 domestic servant. 1911 Census - 12 Beech Road, Chorlton cum Hardy, Manchester. Son - aged: 18 - occ: Warehouseman - born: Sale. Head of household - Arthur Edwin Jones - Married - aged: 38 - occ: Traveller in Sundry Goods - born: U.S.A. (British Citizen). Also - Elizabeth Jones - Wife - aged: 35 - born: Manchester. Plus 2 younger brothers and 1 boarder Formerly 236204 - 8th Bn. West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales' Own). The 13/06/1916 edition of the local newspaper listed him as a Gunner and reported that he had been involved in the Battle of Jutland. A member of the Wesleyan Mens' Bible Class. The 16/06/1916 edition reports that he was with the Royal Marine Artillery, serving on HMS "Superb".
