Born at Carlton on Trent during the June quarter 1882 in the Southwell R.D. - ref: 7b/411, the son of John & Annie Lee. In 1881 his parents resided at 1 Meyrick Road, Newark - John Lee - aged: 36 - of no occupation - born: Weston, Nottinghamshire and Annie his wife - aged: 36 - born: Bottesford, Leicestershire. Plus their eldest son - Enoch Lee - aged: 12 - Scholar born: Newark, Nottinghamshire. No more is heard of his parents after 1881 and it is believed that they both died soon after, as John Samuel Lee was raised by William Reavill. 1891 Census - 9 Eland Cottages, Eland Street, Basford, Nottinghamshire. Visitor - aged: 9 - born: Carlton, Nottinghamshire. Head of household - William Reavill - Widower - aged: 66 occ: Leather Cutter - born: New Basford, Nottinghamshire. 1901 Census - 4 Rawson Street, Nottingham. Boarder - aged: 19 - occ: Wood Chopper - born: Carlton, Nottinghamshire. Head of household - William Reavill - Widower - aged: 76 - occ: Boot & Shoe Maker & Leather Cutter - born: Nottingham. 1911 Census - 10 King Street, Sale. Brother - aged: 28 - occ: Book Binder's Labourer - born: Carlton on Trent, Nottinghamshire. Head of household - Enoch Page Lee Married - aged: 42 - occ: Jobbing Gardener - born: Newark, Nottinghamshire. His eldest brother - Enoch Lee resided here with his wife - Eliza Lee and their 8 children. Enlisted in the Manchester Rgt. No. 21670 in 1914. Died of Pneumonia in Mesopotamia.
