Born during the December quarter 1896 in the Chester R.D. - ref: 8a/389,
the son of Elijah & Annie Dunning (nee Morgan).

Although this was prior to his birth, in 1891 his parents were residing at
Kenworthy Lane, Northenden.  His father - Elijah Dunning was a 29 year old
Agricultural Labourer, born at Nantwich, Cheshire.  His mother - Annie
Dunning was also aged: 29 and born at Nantwich.   His elder brother -
Clement A. Dunning, aged: 4, born at Daresbury, Cheshire.

His father died in 1900, aged: 39, his death being registered at Barton
upon Irwell, so the family must have moved to Stretford before 1900.  He
was buried in Stretford Cemetery on the 11th September 1900.

1901 Census - His widowed mother was residing at 1058 Tenth Street,
Trafford Park together with Frederick's 2 elder brothers and an aunt and
uncle (Mother's brother and sister) and 3 boarders.  No trace of
Frederick.

His mother married Walter Brereton in 1904.

1911 Census - 23 Field Road, Ashton upon Mersey.    Stepson - aged: 14 -
occ: Dairy Boy - born: Nantwich, Cheshire.     Head of household - Walter
Brereton - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Blacksmith's striker - born: Nantwich,
Cheshire.    Also - Anne Brereton - Wife (Frederick's mother) aged: 49 -
born: Nantwich, Cheshire.     Plus 1 elder brother aged: 24.

Cenotaph lists his name as P. Dunning.       St. Martin's Memorial lists as
F. Dunning as does the C.W.G.C.

His elder brother - Clement Albert Dunning resided at 85 Harboro Road West,
Ashton upon Mersey in 1939.
