youngest son of James & Martha Brownhill (nee Sherlock).

Ashton upon Mersey.   Head of household - James Brownhill - Married - aged:
55 - occ: Stonemason's Labourer - born: Ashton upon Mersey.   Also Martha
Brownhill - Wife - aged: 52 - born: Carrington.   Plus 6 siblings,
including Leonard who was also killed during WW1.

1911 Census - Church Road, Ashton upon Mersey.   Son - aged: 18 - occ: 
Vanman with Provision Merchant - born: Ashton upon Mersey.   Head of
household - James Brownhill - Married - aged: 66 - occ: Road Labourer with
Cheshire County Council - born: Ashton upon Mersey.   Also Martha Brownhill
- Wife - aged: 62 - born: Carrington.   Plus 3 siblings, including Leonard
who was also killed during WW1 and a brother-in-law.

Enlisted in 1915 and drafted to the front 12 months later.

SDGW gives his date of death as 01/10/17 as does his M.I.

 MIC - Formerly 217892 Border Rgt.      Awarded the 1915 Star, the BWM &
VM.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in St. Martin's Ref: 6a.13.

His father James died 20/08/1920 aged74 and his mother Martha died
26/05/1928 aged 79.

His brother Leonard also died on active service in 1918 and is buried at
St. Martin's Churchyard.

Another brother is serving in the Army.
