Born during the December quarter 1889 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/167, the son of Edward & Elizabeth Davenport (nee Cheers). 1901 Census - Chapel Lane, Ashton upon Mersey. Son - aged: 11 - born: Ashton-upon-Mersey. Head of household - Edward Davenport - Married - aged: 38 - occ: Wheelwright - born: Ashton-upon-Mersey. Also Elizabeth Davenport - Wife - aged: 39 - born: Tarporley, Cheshire. Plus 3 siblings. 1911 Census - No Trace. His parents and 2 younger brothers were then residing at Clark Mount, Church Lane, Ashton on Mersey. On the 16th February 1913 he emigrated to Australia for Farmwork, leaving London Docks on the S.S. Thermistocles bound for Brisbane. He was then aged: 21 and resided at Warrener, Arley Rd, Manly, Sydney. He returned to the UK in September 1915. Death reported in the 13/10/1916 nedition of the Altrincham Guardian. Commemorated on the family gravestone in St. Martin's Ref: 3.80. M.I. "The path of duty is the way to glory". His father Edward died 01/06/1937 aged 74 and his mother Elizabeth died 04/06/1924 aged 62. Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1917.
