Born during the December quarter 1888 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/162,
the youngest son of Edward & Sarah Jane Sandbach (nee Keal).   

1891 Census - 7 Charlton Drive, Sale - Son - aged: 2 - born: Sale,
Cheshire.  Head of household - Edward Sandbach - Married - aged: 45 - occ:
Wine Merchant - born: Manchester.   Also - Sarah J. Sandbach - Wife - aged:
40 - born: Manchester.   Plus 3 elder siblings and 2 domestic servants.    
(Sarah Jane's father - John Keal, was a local Wine & Spirit Merchant).

1901 Census - Oakfield, Ashton on Mersey - Son - aged: 12 - born: Sale,
Cheshire.    Head of household - Edward Sandbach - Married - aged: 54 -
occ: Wine Merchant - born: Manchester.   Also - Sarah J. Sandbach - Wife -
aged: 50 - born: Manchester.   Plus 4 elder siblings, a cousin and 2
domestic servants. 

1911 Census - "Dunedin", Oakfield, Ashton upon Mersey.   Son - aged: 23
occ: Law Student - born: Sale.   Head of household - Edward Sandbach -
Married - aged: 63 - occ: Retired Wine Merchant - born: Manchester.   Also
- Sarah J. Sandbach - Wife - aged: 61 - born: Manchester. Plus 1 elder
sister and 2 domestic servants.    ("Dunedin" later became the R.A.F.
Association Social Club, demolished and now a block of apartments).

Married Beatrice Emmeline Clifton during the June quarter 1914 in the
Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/1363.

He was admitted as a Solicitor in 1912 and served his articles with his
brother and Slater Heelis & Co.    He remained with that firm until he
enlisted soon after the outbreak of war.

MIC - Originally a Gunner with the Royal Field Artillery Nos. 194297, 58432
& 2806.  Later Commissioned into the R.F.A.   He was drafted to France on
the 19th June 1917.

210th Brigade RFA, 42nd (East Lancashire) Division.    6 officers and 79
other ranks from the RFA died the same day.   Died two days before the
official start date of the Third Battle of Ypres.   Presumably they were
laying down a barrage prior to the commencement of that Battle (later known
as Passchendaele).   They would have been a prime target and easily ranged
if their barrage was constant.

Death reported in the 17/08/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.   M.I.

Sandbach, born: 1915 and Hubert J.C. Sandbach, born: 1916.

Probate was granted at London on the 9th November 1917 to his widow -
Beatrice Emmeline Sandbach, Edward Lister Sandbach (Solicitor) and Edward
Stanley Brentnall (Captain RAMC).  His estate was valued at £3,281. 14.
11d.    His last address given as Park Road, Ashton upon Mersey.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in Sale Cemetery.   His father -
Edward Sandbach died on the 16th September 1913, aged: 35 years and his
mother - Jennie Sandbach died on the 15th December 1925, aged: 78 years.
