Born on the 17th October 1876, the birth being registered as Percy Arnold
Jones during the December quarter 1876 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref:
8a/180, the son of Ebeneezer Lloyd & Margaret Jones (nee Wood).

WO363 - Enlisted at Cambridge on the 18th January 1900 into the 4th
Volunteer Brigade, Suffolk Regiment - Service No. 6574..   He was aged: 23
years and 3 months and born at Sale.  He was 5 feet 9 3/4 inches in height
and weighed 149 lb.   His chest measurements were 35 3/4 inches to 38
inches.  He had a Fair complexion, Blue eyes and Fair hair.

He served 'at home' from the 18th January 1900 until going to South Africa
on the 11th February 1900, returning from South Africa on the 17th December
1900 and served 'at home' again until the 22nd January 1901 when he was
discharged from the Army due to being medically unfit for further service.

He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps, based in Malta from the 30th
July 1904 until the 30th January 1908.

1911 Census - No Trace.

Edinburgh Gazette - 1st August 1911 - His Majesty the King of Italy, in
recognition os services rendered at the time of the earthquake in Southern
Italy in 1908 awarded the Officer of the Order of the Crown of Italy to
Captain Percy Arnold Lloyd-Jones and 4 other fellow officers.

The Medical Register for 1913 - Percy Arnold Lloyd-Jones Army Medical
Service, qualified on the 12th February 1904.   Qualifications - Member of
the Royal College of Surgeons.  Licentiate Member of the Royal College of
Physicians.

Awarded the DSO and was Mentioned in Despatches.

SDGW states that he was a Major.    Qualifications - B.A., M.B., B.Ch.,
M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.    Queen's South African Medal (3 clasps).    Italian
Red Cross Medal, Balkan War (1912-13).

CWGC - Order of the Crown of Italy. Born at Brooklands, Cheshire. Son of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd-Jones, of Abbotshill, Great Malvern, Worcs. B.A., M.B.,
B.Ch., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. Queen's South African Medal (3 clasps); Italian
Red Cross Medal for services in the Messina Earthquake (1908); British Red
Cross Medal, Balkan War (1912-13).

M.I. - "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life
for his friends".

Commemorated on St. John's College War Memorial, Cambridge University.
