Educated at Malvern College &  Manchester Gramnmar School.   He was
employed as a Solicitor, articled to Mr. Brownson, the Town Clerk to Hyde
District Council. 

His Officer, Captain W. Elstob wrote that he was killed on sentry duty in
the trenches.  "I was standing at his side and he practically fell into my
arms.  He was killed instantly by a sniper's bullet through the head,
falling backwards without a murmer".

His father, who was the Manchester County Coroner, had lived in Sale for
many years.

Death reported in the 30/06/1916 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1917.
