Born Wilfrid John Kelsall during the September quarter 1889 in the
Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/169, the eldest son of John & Rose Kelsall (nee
Ford).

1891 Census - 1219  Chester Road, Stretford.   Nephew - aged: 19 months -
born: Sale.   Head of household - James Hodcroft the brother in law of
Wilfrid's father - John Kelsall - Brother in Law - Widower (?????) - aged:

His favourite pastime was bowls - he played for the Sale Park & Stamford
Park Bowling Clubs.

Enlisted on the 4th September 1914.   The local newspaper states that he
was serving with the South Lancashire Rgt. ???

The 18th Bn, Manchester Rgt were part of the 90th Brigade, 30th Division.  
They arrived at Fricourt Camp on the 4th October 1916, then moved to
Marlborough Wood on the 10th.   Moved to Factory Trench on the 11th and
attacked Bayonnet Trench on the 12th, where Wilfrid was killed.

Listed as John W. Kelsall, he married Beatrice Royle during the December
quarter 1914 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/317.  They had a daughter -
Beatrice born in 1916.   It is most unlikely that Wilfrid ever saw his
daughter.

Death reported in the 03/11/1916 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

M.I. - "To memory ever dear".

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1917, which states
that he was serving with the South Lancashire Rgt.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in Sale Cemetery - M2397, where he is
listed as John W. Kelsall.
