Born on  the 55th January 1886, the birth being registered during the March
quarter 1886 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/188, the only son of William
& Sarah Ann Burgess (neƩ Smith).
1891 Census - Hale Green, Hale.   Son - aged: 5 - born: Altrincham.   Head
of household - William Burgess - Married - aged: 31 - occ: Grocer's Vanman
- born: Mobberley.   Also - Sarah A. Burgess Wife - aged: 33 - born: Styal,
Cheshire.

1901 Census - Wigan Coal Yard (next to 32 Chapel Road, Sale).   Son - aged:
15 - occ: Van Boy - born: Altrincham.    Head of household - William
Burgess - Married - aged: 41 - occ: Coal Carter - born: Mobberley.   Also
Sarah Ann Burgess - Wife - aged: 42 - born: Styal.

His parents were also residing at Green Lane, Ashton upon Mersey.  His
father was now employed as a Greengrocer and Fruiterer.

Employed for a number of years by Mr. John Williams & Sons, Grocers, Sale. 
  Later employed in his father's greengrocery business.

Associated with the Ashton on Mersey Congregational Church Sunday School.

Enlisted in September 1916 and had been at the front ten months.

Death reported in the 30/11/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Left a widow and one son.   Commemorated on the private family gravestone
in Hale Cem.

Flanders M.I. - "Time changes many things, but memory of you Jim, always
clings".

His father, William died 16/10/1941 aged 81 years and his mother, Sarah Ann
died 25/04/1940 aged 82 years.   His only son William died 02/01/1921 aged
7 years.
