Born during the June quarter 1892 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/183, the
son of Stephen & Ellen Lingard (nee Cordingly)

1901 Census - 6 Moorfield Place, Sale.   Son - aged: 9 - born: Sale.   Head
of household - Stephen Lingard - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Nightsoil Man -
born: Warrington.   Also - Ellen Lingard - Wife - aged: 42 - born: Sale.  
Plus 7 siblings.

His mother - Ellen Lingard died in 1906 - aged: 48.

1911 Census - No trace.    His widowed father and siblings were then
residing at 5 Brook Stree, Wharf Road, Sale.

Member of the Loyal Brooks (Sale) Lodge of the  Independant Order of
Oddfellows.

Employed by Mr. J.M. Whitelegg, Sale

Married Mary Corrigan during the June quarter 1915 in the Bucklow R.D. -
ref: 8a/499.

Enlisted on the 7th April 1916.

MIC - Victory & BWM - no other details.   Originally No. 4630 Cheshire
Rgt.

Wounded in 1916.

Death reported in the 06/07/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian that
states Lance Corporal T. (Jack) Linguard.   It also states that his widow
was living at 21 Bank St, Sale.

Cenotaph lists name as J. Lingard.    *Name was added onto Cenotaph.

He was killed by a large shell, that also killed another soldier and
wounded another.

Left a widow and a young child.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918, which states
that he was a Lance Corporal.
