Born during the December quarter 1916 in the Warrington R.D. - ref: 8c/374,
the son of Arthur James and Elizabeth Duckworth (nee Wright).

Attended Lymm Grammar School.

His father Arthur James Duckworth died in 1931, aged: 56.

From RAF Gosport, Hampshire, 86 Sqn flew anti-shipping strikes and convoy
escort duties with the Blenheim Bomber.   In June 1941, the Beaufort
Bombers arrived and they began mine-laying, followed by reconnaissance and
air-sea rescue duties.  In December 1941 they began to use the Beauforts as
torpedo-bombers.   Early in 1942, the Sqn moved to RAF St. Eval, Cornwall
and spent three months flying anti-shipping missions off the coast of
France, before moving to northern Scotland.   Back down at St. Eval on the
16th February 1943 long range anti-submarine patrols began with Liberator
Bombers.  In March 1943 the Sqn moved to northern Ireland flying
anti-submarine patrols.

Sola is situated on the south-west coast, south of Stavanger and just north
of Sandnes. From Sola follow the signs to Sola Airport, then follow the
signs for Sola church.

Sola, the site of Stavanger airport, was captured by the Germans on 9 April
1940 and was raided constantly thereafter by the Commonwealth air forces,
being the nearest aerodrome in Norway to the home bases in Scotland. It was
heavily defended and many of the crews were shot down. The Commonwealth war
graves plot is at the airfield and maintained by the Royal Norwegian Air
Force Station at Sola.  It contains 45 burials, two of them unidentified,
and all but one of them airmen.
