Nottinghamshire.   Buried 12/07/1944 - Burial No. 12,121.

They took off at 19.11 hours from RAF Burn, Yorkshire, in a Halifax Mk III
- No. MZ519 LK-U, to bomb a V.1 Flying Bomb site at Croixdalle.   On their
return leg, they crashed at 22.28 hours about a mile south of Farnsfield,
12 miles from the centre of Nottingham.

The crew members were:- Pilot - Reginald Parfitt, aged: 22;  Flight
Engineer - Sgt. Raymond Albert Rolph, aged: 23;  Navigator - Flying Officer
Brian Grahame Turnidge, aged: 24;  Air Bomber - Flight Sgt. John Joseph
Godin RCAF, aged: 19;  Air Gunner - Sgt. Thomas Arthur Hill, aged: 22;  Air
Gunner - Sgt. Leonard Granville Leatham, aged: 20 and the above Sgt.
Pitts.

M.I. - "In loving memory of our dear son 'Fred'.  A constant thought, a
silent memory".

In July 1994, a memorial with a surrounding copse was dedicated to this
crew at Farnsfield.
