Attended Bradbury Central School.    Employed at Shell-Mex and later the
Altrincham Electric Supply Co.   Joined the Manchester Rgt. at the outbreak
of war.  Transferring to the RAF in March 1941.

Reported as missing in the 23/01/42 edition of the local newspaper.

Flying with 51 Sqn, they took off at 17.20 hours from RAF Dishforth,
Yorkshire, in a Whitley Mk5 Bomber - number Z9301 MH-N for a bombing
mission to Emden.   The a/c complete with its six man crew were lost
without trace and ar all commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.    The
crew were - Sgt. J.T. Thom (pilot);  Sgt. F.R. Isaacs;  Sgt. J. Mayes; 
Sgt. W.J. Sullivan;  Sgt. B. Bowring and Pilot Officer G.T. Ellis himself.
