Born during the June quarter 1916 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/338, the son of John Wilson & Louisa Marion Hampson (nee Holmes). 1921 Census - 54, St John's Avenue, Knutsford, Cheshire. Son - aged: 5 - born: Knutsford, Cheshire. Head of household - John Wilson Hampson - Married - aged: 35 - occ:Assistant Superintendent of Insurance Agents for the Prudential Asasurance Co. Holborn Bar, London - born: Leigh, Lancashire. Also - Louise Marion Hampson - Wife - aged: 34 - occ: Home Dutied - born: Shipley, Yorkshire. 1939 National Registration -No Trace - already serving. His widowed mother was residing at 23 Hale Low Road, Hale.. Attended Stamford Park School and Bradbury Central School. Employed by Hale U.D.C. Joined the Territorials in 1939 and on the outbreak of war transferred to the RA (which the CD confirms). In 1943 he was commissioned in the Royal Tank Rgt, but later posted to the SSR. Married Hilda May Jolly during the March quarter 1942 in the Leigh R.D. - ref: 8c/530. His younger brother was serving with the RASC in India.
