Born during the June quarter 1921 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/336, he 5th son of James William & Jessie Dean (nee Bradbury. 1921 Census - Springfield Cottages, Baguley, Cheshire. Son - aged: Under one month - born: Baguley, Cheshire. Head of household - James William Dean - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Railway Platelayer - born: Baguley. Also - Jessie Dean - Wife - aged: 31 - born: Gatley, Cheshire. Plus 5 elder siblings. Employed by a Baguley Market Gardener. 1939 National Registration - No trace of the family. But he would not be listed anyway as he was alsready serving in the armed forces. Joined the Army as a Regular some 6 years before war broke out and was originally in the Lancashire Fusiliers, but transferred over to the RSF shortly before he was killed. Wilfred died of his wounds in the in a first aid post, located in the town hall at Deerlijk, a small town a few miles to the north-east of Kortrijk just off the A14 at the N36 junction. Death reported in the 6th October 1944 edition of the Sale &Stretford Guardian Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Christchurch Churchyard, Timperley, which states that he died on 1st October 1944 ??? His father, James William died 25/01/1961 aged 81 years and his mother, Jessie died 04/05/1955 aged 65 years. One of four brothers serving in the armed forces. | |||
