Attended Stamford Park School and Altrincham Grammar School. Employed as a Sorting Clerk at the Altrincham Post Office. Volunteered for the RAF in June 1941 and went to Canada for training, returning to the UK in April 1942. A Pilot, he was killed in a flying accident at Witham, Colne Without, Yatesborough. Buried 19/01/1943 - Burial No. 11,563. M.I. - "In loving memory, also his father, Able Seaman C.E. Kennerley killed in action at sea 31st December 1942". His father, Charles Edward, who had quite an extensive service record, was also killed on Active Service. The day before his wife was due to bury their son Charles Geoffrey, she was informed the her husband had also been killed. Mentioned in the BM&D section of the 14/01/1944 edition of the local newspaper. |
