Born during the September quarter 1919 in the Nantwich R.D. - ref: 8a/443,
the son of Robert & Catherine Woodall (nee Valentine).

1939 National Registration - 12 Brook Road, Lymm, Cheshire.   William V.
Woodall - Single - born on the 27th June 1919 - occ: Police Constable.  He
was residing with John, Ellen & Herbert Waterworth.

His parents and his elder married sister and her family were then residing
at "Alpha", Cuckoo's Nest, Pulford, Cheshire.   His father - John Woodall
was recorded as being a Retired Police Sergeant and a 1st Reserve Police
Officer with the Cheshire Constabulary.

70 Sqn relocated regularly in support of the 8th Army's westward advances. 
Sometime after December 1943 the Squadron moved to Foggia, Italy where
their Wellington bombers were replaced by the long range Liberator a/c. 
The Squadron was already active over the Balkans, but the Liberator gave it
the range to drop mines in the Danube which was being used by the Germans
to convey oil and supplies to their forces in Yugoslavia and Romania, as
well as bombing targets in northern Italy and beyond.

Commemorated on the private family (grand parents - William & Annie
Woodall) gravestone in Christchurch Churchyard.

Commemorated on the Cheshire Constabulary War Memorial and in their War
Memorial Book.
