| Born during the March quarter 1923 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1015, the son of Arthur William & Kate Burger (nee Roeschell). 1939 National Registration - 12 Fairview Road, Altrincham. Arthur W. Burgess - Born on the 1st February 1893 - Married - occ: Works Chemist (Dye Stuffs). Katherine H..E. Burger - Born on the 1st May 1890 - Married - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. No trace of Thomas, so he had probsably already enlisted before the 29th September 1939. London Gazette supplement : 36335 , Dated 1944-01-14 - Bar to DFC London Gazette supplement : 35831 , Dated 1942-12-18 - London Gazette supplement : 36059 , Dated 1943-06-15 - Flying with 7 Squadron (Pathfinder Sqn) they took off at 23.58hrs from RAF Oakington in a Lancaster Bomber Mk III - No. JB717 MG-V for a boming raid on Berlin. The pilot and two other crew members survived, but Thomas and three others were killed. | |||
