CWD Report No. 6. Died as a result of falling debris at Stanley Road, Old Trafford, from where the remains were recovered at 15.30 hrs on the 16th January 1941 and taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford. The remains were released for burial to the Council's Undertaker Contractor - R. Pepperdine, 31 Ayres Road, Old Trafford. Killed when a land mine landed on Stanley Road, Old Trafford. This was the worst single incident in terms of loss of life in the whole of Greater Manchester during WW2. In total, thirty three persons were killed. Buried 18/01/1941 - Burial No. 18,958. |
