Joined the Metro-Vicker's Company as a Probationary Trade Apprentice in April 1928 and became a Trade Apprentice in September 1929. On completion of his apprenticeship in January 1935 he joined the staff of the Plant Drawing Office. Joined the M.N. in December 1940. Presumed drowned in March 1942 when the ship in which he was serving was sunk by enemy action. The book entry states that he was serving on S.S. Silver Elm. Perhaps he served on that ship before S.S. Baron Newlands ? There is no trace of the Silver Elm being sunk, but Baron Newlands certainly was on the 16/03/42. |
