Born during the June quarter 1919 in the Bowdon R.D. - ref: 8a/204, the son
of John & Frances Dean (nee Hudson).

1921 Census - "Eastdale", Prescot Road, Hale, Cheshire.    Son - aged: 2 -
born: Hale.   Head of household 0- John Dean - Married - aged: 36 - occ:
Governing Director & Buyer Manager Produce Merchants for Messrs. Weatherall
Co. John Street, Pendleton.( Employer) - born: Salford.   Also - Frances
Dean - Wife - aged: 30 - occ: Home Duties - born: Westmorland.   Plus 1
younger sister and 1 domestic servant.

1939 National Registration - No Trace - already serving.   His parents and
sister were residing at "Eastdale", The Avenue Arthog Road, Hale.

Attended Wadham House School and St. George's School, Harpenden,
Hertfordshire.   Member of Sale & Bowdon Rugby Clubs, a keen amateur
motorist, taking part in MG Car Club Trials.    Joined his father's
business in Salford.

Joined the Lancashire Fusiliers in July 1939, but commissioned in the Buffs
in March 1940.    Went to France with the BEF and returned from Nantes
after Dunkirk.  After being on the HQ staff, he re-joined his Regiment then
went to an armoured Regiment.

CWGC - French M.I. - "In proud and loving memory of our dear son.   John
and Frances Dean, Hale, Cheshire".
