Extra Information:
Originally an Italian ship named Cellina was built in 1926 its gross
register tonnage was 6086, it was 448ft long, 55ft wide and could make 13.5
knots. A cargo ship, it could carry 43 passengers. She was seized on the
10/06/40 in Gibralter and became a British Ministry of War Transport ship
called the Empire Sailor.

South-east of Cape Race, travelling from Liverpool to St. John, New
Brunswick, on the 21/11/42, whilst in convoy ON145, she was torpedoed by
U-518 and sunk in position 43 53N 55 12W. There were 36 survivors, but 22
crew/passengers were lost.

Interestingly, her cargo contained phosgene bombs and mustard gas -
something that we always officially denied having possession of.
