Born on the 12th September 1916, the birth being registered during the
December quarter 1916 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/237, the son of Henry
Stevens & Ada Eveline Almond (nee Adams).

Domestic Duties.

Married Anne Violet Hamlett during the December quarter 1940 in the Barton
upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1650.

H.M.S. "Hood" was sunk at 06.00 hrs on the 24th May 1941 in the Denmark
Straight in position 63.25N 31.55W, by the 15" guns of the German
battleship "Bismark" - there were only 3 survivors.   It was a
battlecruiser, built between 1918 & 1920 and had a displacement of 42,100
tons with a complement of 1,350 personnel.

His parents resided at 44 Hazel Road, Altrincham and he is commemorated on
the family grave in Hale Cemetery.   His mother Ada was born 31/07/1877 and
died 26/06/1951.   His father Henry died 16/05/1954 aged 75.   Frederick
himself, was born 12/09/1917.
