Born on the 13th September 1920, the birth being registered during the September quarter 1920 in the Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/81, daughter of Sarah Featherstone. Her mother married a John W. Richardson in 1931. 1939 National Registration - 397 Chester Road, Old Trafford. Sarah Richardson - Born on the 4th December 1895 (1897 ???) - Widow - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. Elsie Featherstone - Born on the 13th September 1920 - Single - occ: Machinist Belt Maker. CWD Report No.86. Died as a result of blast and falling debris at 397 Chester Road, Old Trafford, from where her body was recovered at 15.00 hrs on the 23rd December 1940 and taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford. Her body was identified by her mother - Sarah Richardson and released for burial to the Council's contracted undertaker - R. Pepperdine (Undertakers), 31 Ayres Road, Old Trafford. Elsie was described as being 5 feet 2 inches in height, of slight build and with dark brown hair. Employed as a Belt Rope Maker - single. Buried in the Communal Grave on 30/12/1940 - Burial No. 17,881. CWGC - Killed at 397 Chester Road, Old Trafford. |
