H.M.S. Kashmir was sunk by German air attack at 07.55hrs on 23/05/41 - 13 miles south of Gavdo, Crete, in position 34.40N 24.10E. H.M.S. Kelly was also sunk in the same attack - but H.M.S. Kipling managed to rescue 279 survivors from the two ships. Both these two destroyers were 'K' class destroyers, of which 8 were built between 1938 & 1939, they had a displacement of 1,695 tons and a complement of 218 personnel. | |||
