Born on the 30th April 1917, the birth being registered during the June
quarter 1917 in the West Derby R.D. - ref: 8b/507, the son of Mr. Mrs F.A.
Steen.

1939 National Registration - 134 Golden Hill Lane, Leyland, Lancashire.  
Probably a Lodging House.   There were seven occupants that included two
Police Constables.   Douglas I. Steen - Single - born on the 30th Aproil
1917 - occ: Police Constable.

One of six Police Officers killed when a Land Mine fell onto the East Union
Street Police Station, Old Trafford  on the first night of the Manchester
Christmas Blitz.   Four were killed instantly - two died a few days later.
