Listed simply as Mary Jones, she married Patrick Hugh McLaughlin during the September quarter 1940 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/2187. Patrick was also killed in this incident. Her new husband - Patrick Hugh McLaughlin, together with four of her children - Catherine Jane Jones, William Jones, Patricia Jones and James Jones were all killed in this incident. CWD Report No. 67. Died as a result of falling debris at 28 Stanley Road, Old Trafford, from where her body was recovered at 16.30 hrs on the 9th January 1941 and taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford. Her body was released for burial to the Council's Undertaker Contractor - R. pepperdine, 31 Ayres Road, Old Trafford Killed when a land mine landed on Stanley Road, Old Trafford. This was the worst single incident in terms of loss of life in the whole of Greater Manchester during WW2. In total, thirty three persons were killed. Cem records list her name as Mary Elaine McLaughlin. BMDs - simply as Mary McLaughlin. Buried 15/01/1941 - Burial No. 17,943. |
