Born as Mabel Rae on the 8th May 1895, the birth being registered during
the June quarter 1895 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/905, the daughter of
William & Mary Rae (nee Townley).

1901 Census - 21 George Street, Moss Side, Manchester.     Daughter - aged:
5 - born: Manchester.   Head of household - William Rae - Married - aged:
41 - occ: Grocer Shopkeeper - born: Scotland.    Also - Mary Rae - Wife -
aged: 41 - born: Manchester.

1911 Census - 7 Cornbrook Street, Old Trafford.   Daughter - aged: 15 -
occ: Typist - born: Manchester.   Head of household - Mary Rae - Widow -
aged: 51 - occ: Provision Dealer - born: Manchester.

Married Thomas Reginald Hayes during the June quarter 1918 in the Barton on
Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/994 and they resided at 32 Stanley Road, Old
Trafford.

1939 National Registration - 34 Stanley Road, Stretford.   Mabel Hayes -
Widowed - Born: 8th May 1895 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties.  There are two
redacted records at this address - presumably her children - Margaret M.
Hayes (b.1920) and Kenneth Hayes (b.1926).   Both Margaret & Kenneth were
killed in this incident.

Killed when a land mine landed on Stanley Road, Old Trafford.   This was
the worst single incident in terms of loss of life in the whole of Greater
Manchester during WW2.   In total, thirty three persons were killed.

Buried 15/01/1941 - Burial No. 17,948. Listed as an "unidentified female -
possibly Mrs. Hayes" and buried in the Commuinal Civilian Grave.

Her husband died in 1928, aged: 37.

Her daughter - Margaret Mary Hayes and son Kenneth Hayes were also killed
in this incident.

CWGC - Widow of T. Hayes. Died at 32 Stanley Road, Old Trafford.
