Born Emily Geddes on the 31st May 1886, the birth being registered during the June quarter 1886 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/950. 1891 Census - No Trace. 1901 Census - 9 Dawsons Buildings, Hulme. Daughter - aged: 14 - occ: Machinist of Baby Linen - born: Hulme. Head of household - Elizabeth Geddes - Widow - aged: 52 - born: Salford. Plus 2 elder brothers. 1911 Census - 2 Cuba Street, Hulme, Manchester. Wife - Married - aged: 24 - born: Hulme. Head of household - John William Finch - Married - aged: 25 - occ: Pattern Card Maker - born: Salford. Married John William Finch during the March quarter 1910 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/1205. John was also killed in this incident, as was her son and daughter-in-Law. 1939 National Registration - 99 Duke Street, Old Trafford. John W. Finch - Married - born: 12th February 1886 - occ: Gas Works Labourer (Heavy Worker) & A.R.P. Decontamination, Stretford. Emily Finch - Married - born: 31st May 1886 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. Hilda Finch - Single - born: 4th February 1922 - occ: Die Stamper (Printers). Hilda married her neighbour at 100 Duke Street - John Higginson in 1941. CWD Report No. 78. Died at 101 Duke Street, Old Trafford from where her body was recovered at 16.20 hrs on the 23rd December 1940 and taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford. Her body was identified by her son - J. Finch, 43 Langshaw Street, Old Trafford and released for burial to the Council's contracted undertaker - R. Pepperdine (Undertakers), 31 Ayres Road, Old Trafford. Described as being just 5 feet in height with a 'full' build. Buried 30/12/1940 - Burial No. 17,878. CWGC - of 101 Duke Street, Old Trafford. Wife of John William Finch. Died at 101 Duke Street. The Finch family comprising - the parents - their son and their daughter-in-Law were all killed in this incident. |
