Born Doris Johnson on the 10th January 1915, the birth being registered during the March quarter 1915 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/1715, the daughter of Frederick William & Elizabeth Johnson (nee Bruffell). Married - Norman Finch during the September quarter 1936 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1771. 1939 National Registration - 111 Duke Street, Old Trafford. Norman Finch - Married - born: 24th September 1911 - occ: Bus Driver. Doris Finch - Married - born: 10th January 1915 - occ: Food Packer. Killed at 101 Duke Street, Old Trafford. There is no record of her particular burial - presumably, she was one of the 10 unidentified bodies buried on the 30th. Her name is not inscribed on the memorial. Buried in either, 335 (5), 346 (2), 437 (2) or 438 (1). CWGC - of 111 Duke Street, Old Trafford. Daughter of Elizabeth Johnson, of 1 Camden Grove, Hulme, and of the late Frederick William Johnson; wife of Norman Finch. Died at 101 Duke Street. NOT RECORDED IN THE STRETFORD WW2 MEMORIAL BOOK. The Finch family comprising - the parents - their son and their daughter-in-Law were all killed in this incident. |
