Born at Dalkey, Co. Dublin in 1894, the son of Lawrence Snr. & Sarah Casey (nee Hudson). Both Lawrences - father and son were boot makers. His mother died in 1902 and his father in 1912. Lawrence joined the British Army in July 1912 and trained for the Royal Army Medical Corps. After training he was sent to France and then to Malta. In 1917. He contracted Tuberculosis and was returned to the UK to the Baguley Sanatorium (a TB hospital - now the site of Wythenshaw Hospital) where he died. He was buried at Timperley on 10/01/1919. His Medals were sent home to his sisters and brothers, John, Christopher, Elizabeth and Mary. |
