School.

The local newspaper stated that he lived at 46 Manor Rd, Altrincham.

Enlisted in April 1916 and drafted to the front in June 1917.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Hale Cem.

His father, Samuel died 13/02/1934 and his mother, Mary, died 20/03/1934.

Took part in the Battle of the Marne (Chemin des Dames Breakthrough) - At
01.00hrs on ther 27th, 4,000 German artillery and mortar pieces, fired 2
million shells at the allied forces along a 30 km stretch of the front
line.  Many that lived through the barrage went mad.

The 15/06/1917 edition of the local newspaper reorted that a Fred Gleave,
son of Mr. & Mrs. Gleave of 8 Park Ave, Broadheath, had been taken prisoner
and was in a German POW Camp - another brother perhaps ???
