After a 4 month illness, he died of pleurisy at Fort Pitt Hospital,
Rochester (local newspaper report states Chatham - not Rochester), Kent.
Buried 19/05/1917 - Burial No. 30/1441.

At the request of his family his name has not been commemorated on the
private family gravestone in St. Mary's. The family name of the grave is
Gresty.

There is only one Herbert Jones listed on the Altrincham Cenotaph - in view
of the fact that the family of this Herbert Jones did not want his name to
be listed on the family gravestone where he is buried in St. Mary's,
Bowdon, I presume that the other Herbert Jones that is the one listed on
St. John's and the Cenotaph.

He left a widow and one daughter - Ivy Jones.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918.

CWGC has his grave number incorrectly listed as 4269. Not only that - they
have put a new GWGC headstone on the wrong grave.
