the son of James & Sarah Chorlton (nee Holgate).

Massey.   Head of household - James Chorlton - Married - aged: 45 - occ:
Gardener (Domestic) - born: Millington, Cheshire.   Also - Sarah Chorlton -
Wife - aged: 38 - born: Clitheroe, Lancashire.  Plus 7 siblings.

1911 Census - Grainings Brook, Darwen, Lancashire.  Nephew - aged: 16 -
occ: Garener Nurseryman - born: Broadheath, Altrincham.  Residing with
Stephen & Sarah Jane Holgate.   His parents were then residing at 8
Churchill Road, Altrincham  His father was now employed as a Greenkeeper
and Gardener at a Hotel.

Ardwick Territorial Bn.   Also Served in Egypt

MIC - States that he was drafted to "4a" - British East Africa, German East
Africa, Rhodesia, Nyasalandand Uganda theatre on the 10th September 1914. 
His number was then 2465 Manchester Rgt.    BWM - 15 Star & Victory.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in Sale Cemetery - M.2441.
