Born during the September quarter 1890 in the Toxteth Park R.D. - ref: 8b/151, the eldest son of James Clarke & Mary Woodall (nee Garner). 1891 Census - 55 Morton Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. Son - aged: 9 months - born: Toxteth Park. Head of household - James C. Woodall - Married - aged: 22 - occ: Grocer's Assistant - born: Timperley. Also Mary Woodall - Wife - aged: 22 - born: Timperley. Plus his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather. 1901 Census - Stockport Road, Timperley (two doors along from the Railway Inn). Son - aged: 10 - born: Liverpool. Head of household - James Woodall - Married - aged: 32 - occ: Grocer's Assistant - born: Timperley. Also Mary Woodall - Wife - aged: 32 - born: Timperley. Plus 2 younger siblings. His father - James Clarke Woodall died in 1905 - aged: 36. 1911 Census - Stockport Road, Timperley. Son - aged: 20 - occ: Invoice Clerk - born: Liverpool. Head of household - Mary Woodall - Widow - aged: 42 - born: Timperley. Plus 3 younger siblings. Employed by the Anglo-American Oil Co. Ltd., Manchester. He took a great interest in the YMCA Institute at Timperley. Enlisted in February 1916 and was drafted to the front in August 1916. Formerly 4308 - Cheshire Rgt. His father, James Clarke died 25/05/1905 aged 36 years and his mother, Mary died 28/03/1942 aged 73 years. His younger brother was at the front serving with the Cheshire Rgt. |
