Born during the March quarter 1896 in the Chester R.D. - ref: 8a/384, the son of Robert & ?????????? Jones (nee Burgess). 1901 Census - Poplar Grove Farm, Lostock Green, Lostock Gralam, Northwich. Grandson - aged: 5 - born: Barrow, Cheshire. Head of household - William Burgess - Married - aged: 53 - occ Farmer - born: Lach Dennis, Cheshire. Also Emily Burgess - Wife - aged: 52 - born: Lower Peover, Cheshire. Plus his father - Robert Jones - Son-in-Law - Widower - aged: 30 - occ: Railway Signalman (CCL) - born - Plumbley, Cheshire and 2 siblings and 5 maternal aunts. His father - Robert was obviously married to one of William & Emily Burgess's daughters. Married Sarah Ellen Burgess during the June quarter 1901 - ref: 8a/540. This is a different Burgess to his first wife. Sarah Ellen is the daughter of George & Mary E. Burgess of 17 Lostock Green. 1911 Census - Spring Bank, Mobberley. Son - aged: 15 - occ; Gardener - born: Barrow for Tarvin, Cheshire. Head of household - Robert Jones - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Porter Signalman - born: Plumbley, Cheshire. Also - Sarah Elizabeth Jones - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Manchester. Plus 3 younger siblings. The 21st July edition of the Knutsford Guardian reported that Horace had become a prisoner of war in Germany.
