Born during the June quarter 1898 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/180, the only son of John & Fanny Allen (nee Ford). 1901 Census - Lester Lane, Hale. Son - aged: 2 - born: Hale. Head of household - John Allen - Married - aged: 36 - occ: Nursery Foreman - born: Kingsthorpe, Northamptonshire. Also Fanny Allen - Wife - aged: 38 - born: Bath, Somerset. Plus 3 sisters. 1911 Census - Nursery, Hermitage Road, Hale. Son - aged: 12 - Scholar - born: Altrincham. Head of household - John Allen - Married - aged: 46 - occ: Nursery Gardener - born: Kingsthorpe, Northamptonshire. Also Fanny Allen - Wife - aged: 48 - born: Weston, Somerset. Plus 2 elder sisters. Employed by Mr. Edgar Harding, The Garage, Church Street, Altrincham. Enlisted in 1916. Twice wounded in 1917. M.I. - "A loving son and brother". The Altrincham Guardian dated the 10/05/1918, reported that he had been reported missing since 28th March 1918 and appealed for information about him.
